Semear Network
Agroecology on the Municipal Agenda

Semear means “to seed.” The Semear Network was formed in 2015 to expand the public conversation about urban agriculture in the city of Florianópolis (SC, Brazil). Shortly thereafter, in 2017, the "Municipal Program for Urban Agriculture of Florianópolis" was created by decree, which is currently called "Cultiva Floripa" (Grow Floripa). This legislative measure may have modest impacts on the increase in agroecology in the city. The achievements obtained by Rede Semear are the result of the efforts of its members: People from civil society, the government and NGOs such as the Center for Studies and Promotion of Group Agriculture (CEPAGRO). Rede Semear works by discussing topics such as: healthy eating, awareness, education, integration and health of the population.
